Their first child, Perrigrine was born the June 15, 1814, while still living on the Ketchum farm. When their second boy Sylvanus was born the June 5, 1816, Patty decided baptism was necessary for all of God's children. Since most of their neighbors professed Methodism, Patty joined the Methodist Church on Oct 1, 1816, and David was baptized in 1820. Sylvia soon was born on July 31, 1818, Anna May 21, 1820, and another son David on May 9, 1823. On September 16th, 1823, Anna was taken ill with Cholera. She died at the age of three.

On March 16, 1825, Anna B. was born and Bartlett was born August 1, 1827. They suffered many deaths of children. He contacted whooping cough and died at six months of age. In 1832, the community where they lived was stricken with Typhus. Some of the family members were so ill that they did not know when others passed away in the same room. Anna B. and Sylvanus died leaving only three children in the family.

Perrigrine Sessions, like his mother, wrote journals that showed the early work of the church and the crossing of the plains. Perrigrine had his own company, the Perrigrine Sessions Company. Brigham Young instructed Perrigrine to settle the area just north of Salt Lake, once called Sessions Settlement now called Bountiful Utah.
